It’s a very sad book, but It shows how real the world can be. It’s about a boy who is abused by his mom’s boyfriend. one day he won a rose bush in a lottery at the local grocery store. One day he was so badly beaten that he was taken away to an orphanadge to live the rest of his life. he found a lovely garden and knew at once that that was the place to plant his rose bush. But when he meets the woman that owns the garden she yells at him to get lost. When she sees his back she runs to get the owner of the orphanadge. And that starts a long and hated relashanship. Well at least for a little while.

Born to Rock

Posted by Adriana January 30, 2009 at 2:08 pm · Filed under Fiction

Born to Rock wasn’t anything I expected it to be. You’d think the book would be about how people started their band or something like that, right? Well, it wasn’t at all. It was about a student named Leo Caraway who lived in Connecticut and had a scholarship to go to Harvard! He loses his scholarship by being accused of cheating on a test. He had a best friend named Melissa; a punk-rocker who wouldn’t take nonsense from anyone. She was a die-hard fan of a punk band named Purge and planned to follow their world tour all summer long. Leo’s biological father just so happened to be the lead vocals for Purge– King Maggot. Leo hated punk rock and all their fashions, but he would do anything for a free pass to Harvard In the end he finds out that King Maggot is not his biological father… his cousin Benji is, and Leo already found a disliking to him. Leo decides that it doesn’t matter whether King Maggot is his dad or not, he loves him and really cares about him. King Maggot lends Leo money to send him to Harvard, and they stay in touch. Leo even finds a liking to punk rock music and falls in love with Melissa, the one who helped him meet his long-lost cousin. I would recommend this book to anyone who is in for a huge surprise and a really dramatic story!
