Hated it!

Posted by MrsBrosan March 27, 2008 at 10:43 am · Filed under Announcements

It’s sad but true, we don’t always like every book we pick up to read. I’ve read two books since the new year that it took me for-ev-er to get through, but I did force myself to finish both of them. What books have you abandoned? (That’s okay, you know!) Do you think you’ll ever pick up books you’ve abandoned again? What made you choose the “bad” book to begin with? Did a friend recommend it? Was it required reading? I know there was some discussion earlier about A Night to Remember not being particularly engaging. Tell us about some other books that you couldn’t wait to put down.

Rosa Parks; My Story

Posted by ninah March 27, 2008 at 9:55 am · Filed under Biography

This was a very good book. It described a lot about Rosa Parks, and it even told about her life as a little girl, and before she was famous. The book tells about how the Montgomery Bus Boycott was started, and how Mrs. Parks was involved with it. I like this book, because it was very well detailed, on all the important events in Rosa Park’s life. I recommend it to those that haven’t yet read it.

Good morning all!

You will be required, the 4th marking period, to read a book and post a comment on the site. Not sure about bonus points; maybe if you do something really really special.

Hope you’re all enjoying “sleeping in”, I’m off bright and early to hike with the dogs in the woods.

Enjoy!

Lemony Snicket Book Six

Posted by Soccerlloyd11 March 20, 2008 at 12:48 pm · Filed under Fiction

The Ersatz Elevator By Lemony Snicket was a pretty good book and it was realistic fiction. The Baudelaire’s have yet another adventure with different guardians and a giant staircase of 48 floors or 84. I strongly recommend this book because a lot of books have up and down pages where the book may be boring at times and fun at times, but this book just keeps going right up the scale of excitement.

The Secret Garden

Posted by kirsteng March 20, 2008 at 12:42 pm · Filed under Fiction

The book The Secret Garden was very interesting. It was a very exciting fiction book. When I started to read this book I couldn’t stop. It was about a girl who went to live with her uncle after her parents died. A crow showed her where there was a hidden key and she used it to unlock  the door of a garden that no one had been inside for 10 years,or so she thought. She met her cousin one night and helped him feel better about himself. She also met a boy named Dickon who became a great friend of hers. I would recommend this book to anyone who liked suprises and secrets.

Ransom

Posted by kaylak March 20, 2008 at 12:42 pm · Filed under Fiction

The book Ransom by Lois Duncan was exciting.  It was a really good fiction book.  It was about four high school kids that got kidnapped an held for ransom.  One of the kids guardians doesn’t even know he is missing.  What makes the book so good is that its a cliffhanger.  At the end you don’t get any sort of ending at all.  That mad me really angry.  I would recommend this to anyone who read her other books or anyone who’s looking for a really good read

Left Behind, The Kids

Posted by Colin March 19, 2008 at 10:41 pm · Filed under Non-Fiction | Realistic Fiction | Suspense | Paranormal | Predict

This book is about kids who are orphaned after the rapture. It’s about 4 kids, who have to survive the rapture, (the coming of christ to bring his peeps to heaven) and have many struggles in their messed up life. This is a long series, about 60 books, but they are easy to read, and really great books. You guys should read it sometime!
