I thought this was a very good book. You can get alot more from it than what you would think. It’s much more than just a dog getting kidnapped and sent into the wilderness of Alaska and trying to survive. There’s The struggle for dominance, there’s survival of the fittest, and Jack London brings in ancestry and instincts. The call of the wild has alot of more themes than most books. It’s a very good way to stretch your mind and do alot of things with inferring. It is also a very good way to learn about something that happened in U.S. history with the gold rush. Many people lost everything, and came back with Scurvy and other illnesses. Very few actually gained anything in their experiences in the north. Its nice because you get to see whats its like from the point of view from one of the dogs that was the prince of all dogs around; the big fish in a little pond, thrown into the unforgiving North. Buck has to go against some of his morals, something he might not have ever thought about back in Santa Clara Valley. When you’re thrown into something like he was, you find out alot about yourself. This is a timeless, classic novel, that I am definitely not sorry for picking up and spending time on reading.
